FAQ

Common questions about Kura-chan, grouped by category — click a question to expand the answer. If yours isn’t covered, try site search first, or send feedback using the last section.

Chat replies with “an error occurred while processing the message” — what now?

Reset the current session first:

  1. Open your chat with Kura-chan.
  2. Send /clearsession and wait for the session history to reset.
  3. Send your question again; long questions work better split into shorter messages.

If Kura-chan answers new questions normally, you’re done. If it recurs, note the time, screenshot the full error text, and report it with /feedback, mentioning whether it still happens after the reset. See Commands and menu for common commands.

Where do I type /pair?
  1. Open your one-on-one LINE chat with Kura-chan.
  2. Tap the input box at the bottom, type /pair, and send it.
  3. Follow Kura-chan’s replies to finish linking your Kura ID.
  4. Send /account afterwards — if it returns your account info, you’re linked.

If the bottom shows a menu instead of an input box, tap the three-line icon to the left of the input area to switch. Use a half-width slash / and send /pair, not the plain word “pair”.

The LINE bottom menu isn’t showing — what now?
  1. Open your LINE chat with Kura-chan.
  2. Look for the three-line icon to the left of the input box.
  3. Tap it to toggle between the input box and the bottom menu.

From the menu you can link your Kura ID, check the account, view usage, unlink, report problems, and reset the session.

Videos sent over LINE lose quality — what now?

LINE may compress videos sent in chat. To keep the original quality, upload through Agent Drive instead:

  1. Open DashboardAgent Drive and go to the target folder.
  2. Click Upload and pick the original video, or drag it in.
  3. When it finishes, open the file and check that size, resolution, and duration match the original.

For long-term storage or backups, treat file upload as the source of truth — don’t rely on LINE chat attachments as your only copy. See Upload & download.

Which chat channels does Kura-chan support?

The Dashboard is the source of truth: open SettingsAI Chat, and Chat channels currently lists LINE, plus Slack, Telegram, and WeChat (all Beta). Account-style connections — mail, calendar, cloud drives — are configured under SettingsConnectors instead; see Connectors.

After connecting, send a test message from that channel; a reply means it’s working.

Kura-chan shows as offline — what now?
  1. Check that the MeCloud is powered on and the network cable is connected.
  2. Open a website from another device on the same network to confirm your home network works.
  3. Open the Dashboard and go to SettingsGeneral.
  4. Find Restart Service and click Restart.
  5. After the service restarts, refresh the Dashboard or send a chat message.

Note: restarting interrupts running tasks (transcription, photo preparation, file processing) — wait for them to finish if you can. If it stays offline, record the device LEDs, a screenshot of the offline screen, your network setup, and the restart time, then send feedback.

It’s stuck on the loading screen — what now?
  1. Wait about 3 minutes first — it may be initializing after a first boot or an update.
  2. Refresh the page and open Kura-chan again.
  3. Go to SettingsGeneral and run Restart Service once.
  4. Open it again after the restart.

Still stuck? Keep a screenshot of where loading stops, when the problem started, whether it happens both before and after updating, and whether the restart changed anything — then send feedback.

How do I update Kura-chan?

There are two update paths:

  • Patch updates: open SettingsGeneral and click Check for updates on the Software Update card. If a patch is available, follow the prompts to download it; applying a patch asks you to confirm a restart.
  • Major updates: open the MeCloud app center, find Kura-chan, and update when the page offers it; reopen when done.

If an update fails: confirm the device can reach the internet, note the stage and error text, don’t power-cycle repeatedly, and send feedback with screenshots.

Where do I find transcription results?
  1. Start transcribing: right-click an audio or video file in Agent Drive and choose Transcribe (see Transcribe).
  2. Finished transcripts are saved in the Agent Drive workspace.
  3. To turn one into an askable article, add it via Memory KuraArticlesAdd.

If you can’t find a result, check whether the task is still running and whether the file format is supported.

How do I import photos or videos from an SD card?

Uploading via a computer is the recommended path:

  1. Connect the SD card to your computer and copy the files into a temporary folder.
  2. Open DashboardAgent Drive and go to the target folder.
  3. Click Upload to pick the files (or drag them in) and wait for it to finish.

Afterwards, check the Photos page: the photos should appear with correct capture dates and orientation.

Face recognition grouped someone incorrectly — what now?
  1. Open DashboardPhotosPeople.
  2. Enter the person group you want to fix and click Manage faces.
  3. Click Select, pick the photos to adjust, then move them to another group or remove them from this one.

More people features: Photos: People.

Can it automatically surface memories like “one year ago today”?

In the current version you can revisit memories like this:

  1. Browse by date in PhotosLibrary, or check the automatic picks and moments in AI collections.
  2. Use Search photos and describe the time, people, or place in words.
  3. Naming people makes person-based search much more accurate.
Photo dates look wrong after migrating — what now?

When Kura-chan displays a photo, it uses the capture time from the photo’s metadata (EXIF) first, and only falls back to the file’s modification time when there’s no capture time. So a wrong date usually means the original file’s EXIF capture time was lost.

  1. Before migrating, don’t forward originals through chat apps that compress or strip metadata.
  2. Copy the originals to Agent Drive via a computer or LAN file share.
  3. Copy a few test samples first and confirm the dates in Photos before migrating the rest in batches.

If the original file simply has no EXIF capture time, Kura-chan can only use the file time — that’s a limitation of the file itself.

Can I migrate from a cloud photo album or Evernote?

The file connectors Kura-chan currently offers under SettingsConnectors are Google Drive and OneDrive, plus Notion for workspaces. There is no connector for cloud photo albums like Google Photos or iCloud Photos, and no Evernote connector. So these are migrated manually:

  1. Export or download the originals from the source app (cloud album / Evernote), keeping original quality and metadata.
  2. Open DashboardAgent Drive and upload to the target folder.
  3. Migrate a small batch first, confirm photo dates and orientation (or document contents), then migrate the rest in batches.
  4. Documents can be added under Memory KuraArticles to become searchable, askable articles.
Can Kura-chan work with Excel or CSV files?

Yes. Kura-chan can read spreadsheet files (.xlsx, .xls, .ods, .csv), extract, filter, or summarize the data, and turn results into charts.

  1. Upload the spreadsheet to Agent Drive.
  2. In chat, be specific: which file, which columns or conditions to filter by, and whether you want a table, a summary, or a chart.
  3. Have it process a small sample or preview first, then run the full job once you’ve checked the result.

For example: “Read sales.csv, filter rows where status is pending, return only date, customer, and amount, sorted by date.”

The CPU temperature warning keeps appearing — what now?
  1. Check that the air inlets and outlets aren’t blocked by walls, objects, or dust, and leave ventilation space around the device.
  2. Check whether a heavy task is running — photo preparation, video transcription, file migration — and observe again after it finishes.
  3. If the warning persists, restart the device normally and keep observing.

If it still repeats near idle, send feedback with: a screenshot of the temperature page, a photo of where the device sits, what was running, and the temperature before/after restarting. If you notice a burning smell, unusual noise, sudden shutdowns, or a very hot case, stop heavy tasks and contact support promptly.

My question isn’t listed here — what now?

Try site search or the left navigation first. If you still can’t find an answer, send feedback using the format in the next item.

How do I file an effective problem report?
  1. Send /feedback in LINE, or use the feedback entry in the Dashboard.
  2. State the expected result and the actual result in one sentence.
  3. List the reproduction steps in order, attach the full error text and screenshots, and upload logs if you can.
  4. Note when it happened, whether it reproduces, and what you’ve already tried.

Suggested format:
